Treasure Island is an adventure novel written by Scotsman Robert Louis Stevenson, published in book form in London in 1883 (originally published in installments in the childrens magazine Young Folks, between 1881 and 1882 under the title The Sea Cook or Treasure Island).

Jim Hawkins is a teenager with his parents working in the Admiral Benbow inn. One day, a sailor with his cheek cut, Billy Bones, whose only possession is an old chest. The inn is visited by a sailor blind the same night that Jims father dies. This threat to Bones later saying that he and his minions attacked him to retrieve the chest. Bones dies of stroke, the product of his addiction to rum. Jim and his mother fled with the contents of the trunk and come from outside hackers and destroy the Admiral Benbow.
Jim takes refuge in the house of the gentleman (Trelawney) next to Dr. Livesey, leaving the mother in the town that previously had gone to seek help, which was the nearest the inn. Jim shows them the treasure map he found in the trunk of Bones and the three decide to find him.

La isla del tesoro es una novela de aventuras escrita por el escocés Robert Louis Stevenson, publicada en libro en Londres en 1883 (publicada originalmente por entregas en la revista infantil Young Folks, entre 1881 y 1882 con el título de The Sea Cook, or Treasure Island).

Jim Hawkins es un adolescente que junto a sus padres trabaja en la posada del Almirante Benbow. Un día aparece un marinero con la mejilla cortada, Billy Bones, cuya única posesión es un viejo cofre. La posada recibe la visita de un marinero ciego la misma noche que el padre de Jim muere. Éste amenaza a Bones diciéndole que más tarde él y sus esbirros le atacaran para recuperar el cofre. Bones muere de apoplejía, producto de su adicción al ron. Jim y su madre huyen con el contenido del cofre y ven desde fuera como los piratas destrozan el Almirante Benbow.
Jim se refugia en la casa del caballero (Trelawney) junto al Doctor Livesey, dejando a la madre en el pueblo al que anteriormente habian ido a pedir ayuda, que era el mas cercano de la posada. Jim les muestra el mapa del tesoro que encontró en el cofre de Bones y los tres deciden buscarlo.
